Node Symbols

New link (this month) A red dashed line marks a connection that was newly added in the currently displayed month.
Internet Exchange / Gateway Central exchange points (IXP) and international gateways. These are the hubs that interconnect providers.
Domestic Internet Provider Local ISPs surrounding the exchange (positioned top, bottom, left, right of the hub).
Government Agency Green circle nodes are government / public-sector organisations.
International Provider External peers reachable via the gateway. Appears on the outermost ring (otop, oleft, oright, obottom).
Layer-2 Exchange Point Nodes with the white double-arrow icon inside are Layer-2 exchange points — they forward Ethernet frames bidirectionally between peers without IP routing.
Bandwidth Sharing A link marked with this share icon shares bandwidth with other providers. Click the icon in the edge detail panel to see the sharing partners.

How to Use

  • Click a node to view its connections in the table above.
  • Toggle "Shortest Path" and select two ISPs to find a route.
  • Use Curve slider to adjust edge bending.
  • Click an edge to open the detail sidebar at the bottom.
  • Use the layer radio to switch between Domestic and International views.

Power Features

  • Search modes — toggle between name and AS Number from the dropdown next to the search bar.
  • Table filter — narrow visible rows by name or AS Number with the filter dropdown above the table.
  • CSV export — download the current table view from the export button.
  • Month picker — choose a historical snapshot from the calendar control.
  • Fullscreen / Theme — top-right toggles for distraction-free viewing and dark mode.

Tips

  • Selected nodes get a translucent ring; click empty space or the node again to deselect.
  • Edge thickness reflects connection capacity; animated edges show active links.
  • The category legend on the map shows the color coding used for each node type.
  • Hover any node for a quick tooltip; click for full detail in the side panel.

Shortest Path Mode

Find the shortest hop-to-hop path between two nodes inside this chart only — not real network routing.

This is a graph traversal, not BGP. Results reflect the visible topology, not actual internet paths or AS-path data.

Steps

  1. 1Click the first node — your source ISP.
  2. 2Click the second node — your destination ISP.
  3. 3The shortest hop path lights up; the table shows each hop in order.
  4. 4Click empty space or toggle the switch off to clear the selection.

What "hops" mean

  • Hop count — the number of intermediate nodes between source and destination on this chart.
  • Unweighted BFS — every edge counts equally; bandwidth and latency are not factored in.
  • Chart-only — the path follows the rendered topology, not real BGP routes, peering policies, or transit agreements.
  • No path — if no path exists in the current layer, switch layers or try different endpoints.
